Voyages of Salesman Ship: 2010

Sunday May 30th

On Sunday May 30th we took a day trip over to Oak Bluffs Marthas Vineyard.

We got a late start in the morning waiting for Nick, Geovanna and baby Anthony.

Also, Mike Murphy was making the maiden voyage on his 21 ft Sea Fox. It would not only be his first trip on his new-to-him boat, but also his first trip over to the Vineyard.

So, it was decided that he would take his boat over to Kingman and then follow us over. Some of Mikes "crew" decided to take the trip on Salesman Ship, instead of Mike vessel. On our boat was me, Lynn, Kristi, Keri, Nick, Geovanna, Anthony, Lauren Sullivan, Justin, Dan Graham, Avril (Dans Girlfriend), Jeanne (Matts girlfriend) and on one leg on the trip - Mike wife Cara.

The trip over was very calm, probably 1 ft or less. The calm seas may have given Mike a false sense of what Buzzards Bay is really like. Once in OB harbor we rafted up to 2 other boats and took the launch in to town.

Lunch at Nancys was a must for the 1st stop on the Vineyard this summer. After lunch we walked around town for a hour or so and I could see from some of the flags that the wind had shifted to SW. Typically, this would be good for the trip home, however I knew that Mike would have rougher ride than us heading from OB to Woods Hole - W, SW. We took it slow....as slow as I could without falling off plane.

Once into Buzzards Bay, we had a following sea, maybe 2 footers. Mike took it slow and we all made it home with no problem.

Back at the dock, Iwehad a few beers and some dinner with Nick and family and put an end to the first (short) trip of the year.
